Our organic cotton is sourced from suppliers in South India but we are working towards sourcing directly from farmers.
After which the cotton is either yarn dyed for hand weaving or sent to a mill for commercial weaving. All the dyes used are natural dyes made from flowers, bark, roots or leaves and other naturally occurring compounds.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″ offset=”vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1530089451483{margin-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/6″ offset=”vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″ offset=”vc_col-lg-3 vc_col-md-3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Our Purpose” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_empty_space height=”30px”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″ offset=”vc_col-lg-5 vc_col-md-5″][vc_column_text]We want to step away from the eternal perfection of industrial production and its limitless capacity to reproduce, of trends following us from city to city, dictated by an hollow industry.
We want to focus on the entire lifecycle of our clothing and products and stop virtue signalling as our planet is reeling from the impact of capitalism, the dissonance of “cheap” labour and pollution- Fashion is classist and racist in the implications of who profits, benefits and who pays the price, we have to find another way forward.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″ offset=”vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”80px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_section full_width=”stretch_row” css=”.vc_custom_1594799573248{padding-top: 300px !important;padding-bottom: 300px !important;background-image: url(http://103.250.185.39/~linebecom/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/about_image2.jpg?id=1312) !important;background-position: center !important;background-repeat: no-repeat !important;background-size: cover !important;}”][vc_row][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-12 vc_col-md-12 vc_col-xs-12″][/vc_column][/vc_row][/vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”165px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1530089427958{margin-bottom: 70px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/6″ offset=”vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs”][konte_dash css=”.vc_custom_1535361883015{margin-top: 10px !important;}”][/vc_column][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-8 vc_col-md-8″][vc_custom_heading text=”Production” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1596948886279{margin-bottom: 35px !important;}”][vc_column_text]We want to move away from Industrially produced materials towards a circular and localised production. Working with weavers and block printers to bring back value to the craft they practise often generationally.
We work with a family run business started by Bina and Kesav Rao who have been pioneers in sustainability for 30+ years
Our Suppliers has been working with a network of 2500 plus weavers and is committed to providing them continuous and meaningful employment as well as being engaged in the rural hand loom sector for almost 40 years and Bina is a master weaver herself.
Our suppliers block printing facility is located on the periphery of Hyderabad where they do traditional woodblock printing by hand. The printing is done on 7 to 15 feet long tables that are lined with many layers of Hasin cloth to achieve near-perfect uniformity of print.
Our suppliers also use Multi-resist dyeing incorporating Shibori, Tie-Dye, Mud Resist, Clamp Resist, Stitch Resist, Local Application, Block Print, and various other techniques and most of their Shibori artists are women from the neighbouring villages. They also train rural women – elderly widows, single mothers etc, to create finished, value-added, sellable products as a way of providing a livelihood.

Many unique weaves are being lost because of middlemen taking most profits and trapping the weavers in a cycle of poverty which results in them looking for other work in the cities.
The big question we need to figure out is how do we move away from automatised production, middlemen and provide people with a good quality of life.
Handlooms are carbon neutral and are kept in a weavers home allowing them to generate an income while also being able to take care of their children or tend to their property.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″ offset=”vc_hidden-sm vc_hidden-xs”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
